  • Assists with overall up-keep/cleaning of the center.
  • Serves as a resource to center staff & teachers.
  • Ensures center compliance, Head Start Performance Standards and DHS Regulations are met.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in performing duties and interacting with co-workers and parents.
  • Maintains daily enrollment at capacity and actively recruit families
  • Develop, support, nurture, and document parent & community partnerships.
  • Performs all duties as assigned by supervisor.

A GED or high school diploma is required.

Qualifications:

CDA, AA in ECE, or BA in ECE

Responsibilities:

  • Interacts with and responds to children, families and visitors in a friendly and courteous manner
  • Shares information as appropriate with parents
  • Completes and updates child concerns in a routinely and timely manner
  • Maintains a safe and healthy classroom environment according to DHS regulations, Head Start Performance Standards, and Seton Hill Child Services, Inc. philosophies, policies, and procedures (including different locations as needed)
  • Monitors and conducts supervision as required by DHS and SHCS policies and procedures
  • Offers a variety of learning experiences, as well as required components in lesson plans from week to week
  • Conducts smooth transition activities and is prepared for group lessons to avoid unnecessary waiting or disruptions
  • Follows the daily schedule, but is flexible in meeting the needs of the children
  • Interacts with children during free play, gross motor, and other activities as children’s needs warrant
  • Encourages pro-social and safe behaviors in children; Maintains an environment with no negative interactions and behavior supports
  • Anticipates and helps avoid problems by maintaining appropriate expectations of children’s behavior
  • Is in close proximity to children when offering redirection; speaks to children at eye level
  • Required paperwork completed as needed
  • Planning and implementing learning experiences that advance the intellectual and physical development of children.
  • Improving the readiness of children for school by developing their literacy, numeracy language, vocabulary and their problem solving abilities.
  • Establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy, developmentally appropriate learning environment.
  • Complete lesson plans utilizing individual goals, early learning standards and curriculum.
  • Supporting the social and emotional development of children.
  • Attend home visits & coordinate and attend Parent-Teacher Conference twice a year.
  • Encouraging the involvement of the families of the children and supporting the relationships between children and their families
  • Interacts with children during free play, gross motor, and other activities as children’s needs warrant.
  • Planning and implementing learning experiences that advance the intellectual and physical development of children.
  • Improving the readiness of children for school by developing their literacy and phonemic, print, and numeracy awareness, their understanding and use of language, their understanding and use of increasingly complex and varied vocabulary, their appreciation of books, and their problem solving abilities.
